I've been a Mac users for many years, I'm actually in my second Mac age. My first Mac age began back during my college days. During my second year of college I made friends with a student that was working for Apple as an "Apple Student Representative." She was going to be graduating and was looking for her eventual replacement.  I applied and got the position in 1991. The job came with a loaner Mac II LC, which was a definite upgrade to my Tandy 1000a. I would work for them for a year, and during that year I would buy my first Mac - The Mac IIsi. That computer would get me through college, but when I moved overseas I couldn't take it with me. While leaving in Asia, without any kind of computer, I got homesick for my Mac. So I picked-up a Mac portable, the PowerBook 520c. That would be my first of many notebooks, but my last Mac for many years. The year was 1995. I would replace it in 1996 with my first Windows notebook and wouldn't return to Macintosh for 9 years.

In 2005 I returned to the world of Apple and haven't looked back. Since then I have converted my wife, my kids, my father, my brother, my mother-in-law and countless friends and associates. I would never tell anyone different, I'm an Apple evangelist. I was in 1991 and remain adamantly so today. I can't promise that 10 years from now the same will be true; but it seems unlikely my opinion will change before 2021.

I do think that if you are going to read the recommendations, tutorials and bloviating  of your Apple Professor you should know a little about his background and the tools he uses.
