On April 1, 2015 the family of Penny Scaggs received news that parole for Roger Scaggs had been denied. The next date for review will be April 1, 2018 which is a three year set off.
We are so very thankful for your prays and support . Our family is Praising God for His faithfulness.
March 20th, 2015
As of March 20th 2015, we find ourselves “waiting upon the Lord.” We know that letters have been collected and currently await the request from the Parole Board Preparation Office. If you sent a letter, we sincerely thank you for your time and effort. The preparation office, we are told, collects the letters, court documents, input from the prison system as well as Rogers’ submitted plan for post release location and a prepared package for the board. There is also a grading system used by many states that allows elements such as age to be rated as a guide line for the Parole board to consider. Two of the three board members will receive the package, read through the data and determine their decision. If they both agree (for release or for denial,) the decision will be communicated within 24 hours to the family. If there is a split between the two initial board members, the third member of the committee reads the package and breaks the tie. If Roger is granted release, it will be about two weeks before he actually leaves the prison. We will be notified as to where he is going to be released as well.
Several months ago we asked to be contacted personally by the board prior to their decision. As yet we have not heard from them. There are several pieces of information that we want to share with the board. It is optional for them to contact us. We are hopeful that they will reach out to us.
Please join us in a prayer of protection for Penny’s family and for wisdom to be applied to the decision making process.
Thank you for loving Penny and for supporting her sisters and family.
