The Movie Buff

Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a movie buff. Give me 15 seconds of a movie, and I can probably name the movie. That in itself is pretty sad, but also if you wonder how I can do it, and do it so well... wonder know more. While living in Korea watching movies at home was a major form of entertainment given my unusual schedule and the lack of TV. For those of you scoffing, I read a great deal while there too; including Korean History. Anyway, in the time I was there I've calculated that I watched over 3000 movies in four years. That's a bit misleading, because I did watch many a movie more than once; sometimes by accident. I had to learn to not only read the movie titles in Korea, but translate them. Most often though I had to determine if I wanted to watch the movie by the pictures on the back cover.

Today though, you don't have that same limitation that I did in the dark days of the mid 90s. Even if you live in Korea, you can use some great search tools to determine what you want to see; and then head over to Apple's website or so many others and watch a trailer. If there is an actor or director you like, you can research what other movies they made and even determine if the US title was different than the international title. Not sure what I mean, have you seen "The Professional," in Korea and the rest of the world is was called "Leon."

Included are two of my favorite links for researching movies and tv, as well as my current collection of DVDs. If you are a family or friend, I might be persuaded to allow you to "borrow" one of my movies; I have over 250 of them now.
